Vari-L Company, Inc. ("Vari-L"), a publicly traded company, designs, manufactures and markets a wide variety of radio frequency and microwave components and devices for use in wireless communications. Vari-L had decided to sell its assets to a strategic buyer. GMB was retained as the exclusive financial advisor in the sale of substantially all of the company's assets. GMB assisted Vari-L in negotiating the sale to a limited number of logical strategic parties. GMB successfully negotiated the sale of the assets to Sirenza Microdevices, Inc. at a significant premium to Vari-L's pre-announcement trading value. The transaction provided liquidity to shareholders, settled all company liabilities and created a strong partnership with Sirenza. Sirenza, headquartered in Broomfield, CO, with operations in China, Germany and the US, is a leading designer and supplier of high performance radio frequency components for the commercial communications, aerospace and defense equipment markets.
