ABR-Affinity BioReagents, with an offering of more than 35,000 reagents, is a leading provider of antibodies, peptides and proteins for life science research. The company's products - primarily monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies - are used in numerous fields of medical and academic research, as well as drug discovery. GMB was engaged to effect a transaction that would allow ABR's shareholders to completely liquidate their ownership. Through a broad auction process, GMB and the company identified several interested potential buyers - both financial sponsors and strategic buyers. At the conclusion of a successful and competitive sale process, the company's shareholders achieved their goal of a 100% cash sale of their equity at an attractive valuation. GMB served as exclusive financial advisor to ABR in the transaction, assisting the company in evaluating its strategic alternatives, preparing an information memorandum, marketing the company through the auction process and negotiating final agreements.

ABR was sold to Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. (NYSE: TMO) and will be integrated into Thermo Fisher's Analytical Technologies Segment. In addition to reagents, Thermo Fisher also provides analytical instruments, equipment, consumables, software, and services for research, manufacture, analysis, discovery, and diagnostics to the scientific community.

"GMB did a great job through every phase of the sale process. They were spot on in the valuation process, they brought all of the right buyers to the table and they were very effective in managing the relationships between me as the owner, our managers and the buyers to achieve a very favorable outcome. This was a highly successful transaction for our shareholders and an ideal acquisition for Thermo Fisher. The addition of our reagents to their product offering will immediately augment and complement Thermo Fisher's growing presence in protein-research."
